Featured Listing Pricing for Indie Makers (2026)

Featured Listing Pricing for Indie Makers (2026)

Featured listing pricing on MyTools is quote-based. I don't publish a price, because the cost depends on the placement and duration you ask for. A featured listing puts your indie tool in a more prominent spot in the directory. A free listing is always available, and you can request featured placement once your tool is in.

I run MyTools and review every submission myself, so I'll be plain about what I can and can't promise. There are no made-up price tables and no guaranteed traffic. This page covers how paid placement works, how it sits next to free listings, and how to ask for a quote.

Ready to start? Submit your tool, then request featured placement through the maker business login or the contact option on this page. Prefer to stay free? Read how to submit your product for a free listing.

What a Featured Listing on MyTools Costs

There is no public rate card. After you ask, I issue a quote that reflects the placement and duration you want. That is the whole pricing model for promoted listing cost here.

Why no numbers? Other platforms publish fixed fees, but those figures belong to their marketplaces. Quoting them here would mislead you about what MyTools charges. I'd rather say "ask me" than print a number I can't stand behind.

Last verified with the operator: October 18, 2026. Terms can change, so confirm the current price and scope in writing before you pay.

What You Get With Featured Placement in the Directory

A featured listing is a paid upgrade. People browsing a category see your card sooner than they would see a standard one.

Two rules stay the same for every listing:

  • It must be a real indie-built product. Paying does not buy an exemption from review.
  • It is hand-vetted. I look at every tool before it goes live, featured or not.

"Promoted listing" and "sponsored listing" mean the same thing here: a paid position, labelled as such. I only describe what I have confirmed, so you won't find a long list of perks on this page.

Three Things That Shape Your Quote

Three variables set a quote, and I give no figures for any of them.

Placement

Where the card appears matters most. A more prominent spot is a different request from a standard promoted position, and we agree on it before you commit.

Duration

How long the placement runs also changes the quote. Tell me how long you want it live when you ask.

Category

Your tool's category can matter too, since categories differ in how many tools compete for attention. Browse the discover page to see where your product would sit.

Featured vs. Free Founder-Submitted Listings

Free listings are founder-submitted and always open. Featured is an upgrade on top of that.

Comparison of a free listing and a featured listing: both are hand-reviewed, but featured has a more prominent promoted position and a quote-based price.

Free listing Featured listing
Cost Free Quote-based, price not published
Vetting Hand-reviewed Hand-reviewed
Placement Standard position More prominent, shown as promoted
Tags Earned by the tool's status (Free, New, Hot, Deal) Same tags apply
Sort signals Ranked by popularity, newest, top-rated Same signals apply; ratings unchanged
How to get it Submit your tool Submit, then request a quote

Live listings such as IndieTool and JSONViewerTool show what standard cards look like.

How Tags and Sorts Work Alongside Featured Placement

Tags describe a tool. Sorts reorder the catalogue. Featured placement is a separate, labelled position.

Tag Meaning
Free The product has a free option
Hot The tool is getting notable attention in the directory
New Recently added
Deal Offers a discount or special offer

The sorts work from listing activity:

  • Popularity: tools that draw the most activity rise.
  • Newest: the most recently added tools come first.
  • Top-rated: tools with the best ratings come first.

Here is the trust part. Featured placement shows up as a promoted position. Paying does not change your ratings, and it does not rewrite how the popularity, newest, or top-rated sorts work.

Is It Worth Paying to List Your Product?

I can't promise traffic, rankings, or return on spend, and nobody honest can. Here is a neutral way to decide.

Checklist of three signs that a featured listing may suit you: a finished product, a launch or promotion, and capacity for extra visitors.

It may suit you if:

  • You have a finished product and a clear category.
  • You're launching or running a promotion and want earlier visibility.
  • You can handle extra visitors and support requests.

You may want to stay free if:

  • Your product is still rough or changing weekly.
  • You haven't tried the free route yet.
  • Budget is tight and you need proof of demand first.

How to Request a Featured Listing Quote

Let's break it down into three steps:

Three steps to request a featured listing quote: submit your tool, contact the operator, then get terms and a price.

  1. Submit your tool. Start with the free submission so I can review it.
  2. Contact me. Use the maker business login or the contact option on this page, and mention the placement and duration you want.
  3. Get terms and a price. I reply with a quote. Confirm the details before you pay.

Next steps: request featured placement and I'll take it from there.
